Donald J. Trump is an American real estate developer. He may be a very wealthy man, or he may be a financially struggling businessman with debts far surpassing his assets. The truth is no one knows; and no one can know for certain because Trump obfuscates about his wealth. There are numerous examples on the mainstream media—the unfair media, as Trump calls it—showing that his claim to be a billionaire many times over is not without controversy.
The intention of this site is to mock the figure of Donald J. Trump. Trump is a misogynist xenophobe. Trump is the quintessential ‘ugly American’. Trump is as much of a coward as the actor John Wayne, who famously refused to serve in the US military during World War II. Yet, rather than facing down his critics by stating that many men in his generation dodged the draft as he did, he repeats his lies about imagined medical reasons for his medical deferments.
Does any of it matter? Hardly. Congress is filled with men who also dodged the draft, so it should be clear that the American people care little about what baby boomers did when they were confronted with the draft. Where it matters is when Trump claims his knowledge of military affairs exceeds the expertise of seasoned professionals. When Trump claims that he knows better than generals in the Pentagon–in terms of dealing with America’s adversaries–he reveals the gravest danger a Trump victory in November represents.
Trump represents a clear and present danger to American democracy. Trump clearly represents a domestic enemy to the interests of the American people. The United States does not need thermonuclear war, yet Trump gives nonchalant, dangerously ignorant answers when asked about nuclear weapons.
Make no mistake, nuclear war is the gravest threat to the United States. No other threat matches the danger that even a limited use of nuclear weapons represents. The dangers presented by overpopulation, climate change, and global terrorism pale in comparison to the existential threat nuclear war poses.
Donald J. Trump and his running mate Mike Pence present a clear and present danger to the future of American democracy. Through their collective public statements they have provided enough evidence for any sensible American to reject them at the ballot box. A Trump victory in the upcoming elections would make the Brexit vote in the UK no more than an interesting footnote in future history books. A Trump presidency would signal the beginning of the end of American democracy and global stability. The welfare of future generations is on the balance.
The threat posed by Donald J. Trump is very real. One reason for his appeal is that not enough has been said about who he really is. The following is our effort to remedy that.
