September 11 seventeen years later, and Trump

The 17th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks was not immune from Trump.  As he is despicable, he took the opportunity on this day to Tweet about himself.  But of course Trump is no stranger to taking credit for being a good New Yorker after the attacks.  Helpfully, Talking Points memo published a reminder that Trump lied about making charitable contributions to the 9/11 fund.

The piece also reminded that in the aftermath of the attacks, Trump bragged that the felling of the Twin Towers meant that his own building was therefore the tallest building in lower Manhattan.

And today, Trump, who had campaigned on pulling US troops out of Afghanistan has not done so.

Of course for the pro-Trump voters none of this matters, because September 11 was not about a collective loss.  To them, September 11 is about an excuse to persecute and malign muslims, and Trump excels at that.
